SPF for Face

Shield and Protect Your Skin with Face SPF

Protecting your skin from the sun should be a priority step in your skincare routine. Not only do harsh UV rays lead to hyperpigmentation, premature ageing and dryness, but also more fatal risks such as skin cancer. "The regular use of an SPF is essential for maintaining healthy, radiant skin and really should sit front of centre of your regime regardless of the time of year" - Melanie Grant, Skin Expert and British Beauty Council Advisor

Many people like to use a different sunscreen for their face to the one they use on their body, that’s because face SPFs are formulated specifically for your complexion. They tend to be more lightweight, absorbing much quicker and not leaving a greasy residue, like the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid SPF50+ Sun Cream.

Some are even supercharged with skin-loving ingredients to tackle your everyday skin concerns, much like Ultrasun’s Anti Pigmentation Face Lotion SPF 50+, which helps brighten any existing hyperpigmentation, all while delivering high sun protection. "Individuals with oily/acne-prone skin should look for sunscreens which are oil-free to avoid blocking pores and leading to breakouts. These are usually formulated as serums or gels." - Melanie Grant, Skin Expert and British Beauty Council Advisor

You should use an SPF all year round, because the sun is always out, even in winter when the skies look grey. "Photodamage from UV radiation accounts for 80% of skin ageing and it is also the main risk factor for developing skin cancer." - Dr Sharon Wong, Consultant Dermatologist. To protect your skin, apply SPF (at least 2 finger lengths) at the end of your morning skincare routine, and at least 20 minutes before you plan on leaving the house - reapply every 2 hours to maintain protection.
