When it comes to skincare, looking after the skin on your body is just as important as looking after your face. We asked Brynja Magnusdottir, International Trainer for BIOEFFECT, to explain the ins and outs of bodycare, and why you should really treat your skin to some TLC.

What is the one thing you wish people knew about taking care of your body’s skin?

I wish that people understood that even though the skin on our body is thicker than our face, it is equally vulnerable to ageing. With time, it loses density and firmness causing it to wrinkle and sag. We should therefore be giving our bodies a similar level of care and attention that we do to our faces.

What products form the basis of a great body care routine?

A good bodycare routine uses very similar products to the ones we put on our face. This includes body washes, exfoliating scrubs, body serums, and body creams. Many don’t realise the importance of using a body serum, but if you want to prevent premature skin aging, then you need the concentration of actives found in a serum – even if you only use it on certain areas.

How can I protect my skin from dryness post shaving?

Apply a body serum, like the BIOEFFECT EGF Body Serum, right after showering and bathing. It contains Barley EGF which not only helps to diminish the visible signs of ageing, but also helps the skin retain moisture for longer.

Which areas of your body should you pay the most attention to?

In terms of anti-ageing, we must pay special attention to the neck and décolletage as the skin there is thinner and much more like the skin on our face. Some take their face skincare down to the chest, but many do not. There are also some parts of the body that have thin skin and are more prone to dryness, such as the shins, so these need some extra attention.
