What are your top tips and tricks for at home hair removal?
My top tips for at home hair removal is to exfoliate the area the night before and once you have removed the hair, use an Aloe Vera based moisturiser to soothe and calm the skin. This will take away any redness and rashes!
How should you prepare your skin for hair removal?
To get the best results with at home hair removal it’s really important to prep before hand! I’d recommend moisturising the area a week before hand and exfoliate the area the night before. This stops the razor getting built up with dead skin if you’re using one.
Which hair removal method is best for the bikini line?
There is so much choice when it comes to at home hair removal. If you’re looking for a permanent solution for no hair, I would say laser hair removal or at home IPL are the best permanent solutions. The next best at home solution for a hair free bikini area is waxing! The results last longer than shaving and it gives you a smooth finish.
How do you prevent ingrown hairs or rashes from hair removal?
Ingrown hairs and rashes after shaving are so annoying but so common! Here is how to stop them. Wet your skin with lukewarm water and use a shaving cream or gel. Rinse your razor after every stroke. Shave in the direction that the hairs are growing and hold a cool wet cloth to your skin for 2-3 mins to reduce further irritation.
How often should you carry out hair removal?
Depending on what method you are using to remove hair and the growth of your hair, there are different wait times for hair removal. If you’re shaving your hair, you can shave every 2/3 days. If you are waxing, you’ll need to let the hair grow for at least 2 weeks before you can wax. If you are doing at home IPL, this can be done every 6 weeks and you must shave before using the IPL.
How long does your hair need to be before you wax it?
Your hair needs to be as long as a grain of rice to wax, ideally¼-inch. This is to ensure your hair is completely removed from the root. It’s actually less painful the longer it is.
How do you care for your skin post-wax?
Caring for your skin post-wax is so important. Avoid heat and steam for 48 hours and apply Aloe Vera to the skin you have waxed twice a day to moisturise and soothe the area. We also advise people not to wear tight fitting clothing on the area you have waxed, let the skin breathe!
